Pocket bikes are essentially miniature motorcycles, they have the same sleek look as real motorcycles but are much more affordable. Motorsport enthusiasts all over the globe are collecting pocket bikes to add to their collections. A pocketbike or minibike as they also are called, comes with all the parts of their full size cousins, but are only about two to three feet tall. They are usually powered by a four stroke or two stroke gas engine, but electrically powered models are also becoming increasingly popular. Pocketbikes can be a toy for a kid or a powerful racing machine for a pro racer. How you use it is up to you.

There are many various designs of pocket bikes, all of which usually follows the designs of their larger siblings. For example, there are mini choppers which obviously looks like chopper motorcycles, mini racing bikes and mini pit bikes which looks like small versions of a motorcross bike. The designs can often be customized to your liking with different colors, decal and so on. The prices for a good pocket bike go as low as $350. You can get lower priced ones as well, but they usually wont be as well made as the more expensive ones. Features like semi automatic transmission, hydraulic disc brakes or a 125cc air cooled engines are well worth paying a little bit extra for. Another thing worth mentioning is that the more expensive models usually use a better metal alloy in their frames making the bikes more sturdy and lighter at the same time.

Unfortunately pocket bikes are banned from most public roads so make sure to check the laws where you live. You can still ride them on private property though.

Even though all these different variants of minimotos are small, most of them, with some few exceptions, should not be used as toys. They can reach high speeds, and while safer than a full sized motorcycle, a fall at high speed will still be painful, and may cause serious injury if you are not wearing the proper safety equipment or if you are plain unlucky. So remember to wear proper safety equipment.

I hope you will take these tips to heart, ride with the proper gear, and above all, have fun!
